Sunday Night Venison Pizza
Ingredients
1 12" prepared pizza crust (such as Boboli)
6 oz. package Pizza Sauce
2 cups (8 oz.) grated cheese, all one kind or a mixture such as
Mozzarella, Provolone, Romano and Parmesan
1 link Broken Arrow Ranch Venison
Smoked Sausage (about 6-oz)
1/2 cup red and yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
1/3 cup sliced green olives
1 small tomato, cut in small pieces
1 tblsp olive oil
1 cup thinly sliced onion
2 tblsp fresh basil, thinly sliced
Cut sausage into quarters, lengthwise, then cut
the strips into 1/4" pie-shaped pieces. In a non-stick pan
sprayed with Pam, stir the sausage pieces for about 3 minutes until
they are lightly browned, then place aside. If you chose to use
any of the non-cooked sausages, be sure to cook thoroughly according
to directions before using as pizza topping.
In the same pan heat the bell pepper, stirring
constantly, for about 1 minute to just take the crispness off the
strips, place aside. Heat the mushrooms in the same pan, stirring
constantly, for about 1 minute, then place aside. Add the olive
oil to the pan, then add the onions and heat for about 2 minutes,
stirring constantly, until they are just wilted and slightly browned.
To assemble the pizza, place prepared pizza crust
on pizza pan, cover top with pizza sauce, and sprinkle grated cheese
evenly over sauce. On top of cheese add browned sausage pieces,
bell pepper, mushrooms, green olives, and tomatoes. Spread onions
over top of pizza.. Heat in 450 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
After removing from oven, sprinkle fresh basil over top of pizza
and serve.
